About us
Why the name Unidos in Education?
Unidos is Spanish for together representing a community of individuals. Where there is a sense of community there is togetherness, belongingness, and teamwork. A united front is essential in honing inclusive practices. It provides equal partnerships and collaboration in the decision-making process. At Unidos in Education LLC, you will have a thought partner at your service, we are part of your team!
Who founded Unidos in Education and why?
Ruth Jennifer Garcia is the CEO and founder of Unidos in Education LLC. With more than nine years of experience serving students with exceptionalities in the Greater Los Angeles area across various capacities, she was inspired to open her private practice to advocate for more students with exceptionalities and their families. Her expertise in special education and inclusion practices will support those needing assistance in improving their special education program.
What makes ruth different from other education specialists?
Ruth's signature practice is building individuals' capacity in special education to best serve the needs of students with exceptionalities in the least restrictive environment, by providing up-to-date inclusion, evidenced-based interventions, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) practices. She advocates for families and students with exceptionalities in partnership with all school stakeholders involved in the student’s individualized education plan (IEP) to ensure it’s implemented with fidelity through a collaborative process. Students’ needs always come first, she is detail-oriented, a team player, a positive role model, a continuous learner, an instructional strategist, and a teacher spotlight. Ruth is knowledgeable in special education law, she will ensure the team does their due diligence. Most importantly she is committed to continued professional development and is in partnership with the National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET), the Association of Educational Therapists (AET), and CHADD.
